Executives from both institutions were present at the signing ceremony, held in Room 3D–301, 3rd Floor, Princess Srisavangavadhana Faculty of Medicine Building, Chulabhorn Royal Academy, Lak Si District, Bangkok.

Professor Emeritus Dr. Ratchata Ratchatanawin, Acting Deputy Secretary General of Chulabhorn Royal Academy, presented a report on the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Chulabhorn Royal Academy and the National Health Security Office (NHSO). This collaboration was made possible through the exceptional foresight and visionary leadership of Her Royal Highness, who has graciously supported the advancement of medical education and the development of highly competent healthcare professionals in alignment with Her Royal aspirations.

In pursuit of this mission, Princess Srisavangavadhana Faculty of Medicine, under Chulabhorn Royal Academy, has established a Bachelor of Science Program in Health Data Science—the first interdisciplinary undergraduate program of its kind in Thailand. This innovative curriculum is the result of a partnership with the Faculty of Engineering, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, and integrates knowledge from both the medical sciences and data engineering.

Graduates of the program will be equipped with a solid foundation in medical science, along with advanced data engineering competencies. They will be capable of developing innovative systems and technologies, managing and analyzing large-scale health data, and contributing to both clinical practice and medical research. The program features an integrated learning model, combining academic instruction with hands-on experience in real-world healthcare settings, therefore preparing students to meet the evolving demands of modern medicine.

Chulabhorn Royal Academy recognizes the National Health Security Office (NHSO) as a highly distinguished organization in the administration of Thailand’s Universal Health Coverage system. The NHSO also serves as the largest repository of medical and public health data in the country, particularly data that is integrated with the national healthcare service system. Given its expertise and extensive data resources, the NHSO is deemed an ideal partner to provide academic enrichment and practical experience to third-year students, as well as to serve as a key data source for the fourth-year students’ research projects. Furthermore, the NHSO serves as a service placement for scholarship recipients for graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Health Data Science program under the Princess Srisavangavadhana Faculty of Medicine, Chulabhorn Royal Academy. The demand for graduates of this program is expected to grow steadily, underscoring the importance of this strategic collaboration in supporting the development of future healthcare data professionals.

In addition to its role as a training site and designated service placement for scholarship recipients from the Princess Srisavangavadhana Faculty of Medicine, the National Health Security Office (NHSO) has also recognized the strong potential of the Chulabhorn Royal Academy in contributing to the advancement of national research. This recognition has led to the establishment of a strategic collaboration between the two institutions aimed at jointly developing research initiatives utilizing health information systems and public healthcare service data from both the NHSO and the Academy.

The primary objective of this collaboration is to enhance medical and public health research and services by making the most effective use of the NHSO’s health information systems. It also aims to generate valuable knowledge in the fields of medicine and public health, which can be used to support evidence-based policymaking and the development of national health policies. Additionally, the partnership is intended to encourage the application of this knowledge toward the efficient management of health resources and to ensure that the population has better access to quality healthcare services. A further goal is to promote and support the development and use of essential medical products—particularly targeted cancer therapies and pharmaceuticals—produced by the Chulabhorn Royal Academy.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="682"
